Bamboo Works in Arunachal Pradesh and other North-Eastern region of India
Arunachal Pradesh makes the most extensive as well as effective use of bamboo in India. Their houses are made of bamboo standing on stilts. The floors as well as the roofs are of bamboo. The partitions and the staircase that leads to the house are all bamboo made.

People of Arunachal Pradesh have thick hollow bamboo containersto store water. Beautifully made boxes of bamboo of different sizes are used by them to store goods. Sieves for straining, large carrying baskets as well as small beautifully designed baskets and traps for catching fishes are all made of bamboo. It is amazing to note that the north-eastern region of India, which comprises of Assam, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura, are extensively dependent on bamboo. Right from their dwellings, to articles needed for their day to day work,as well a dresses such asthe split cane belt of the Apa Tanis with a tail

Symbols of Bamboo
Bamboo’s durability is a symbol in India of friendship while it’s a Chinese symbol
of longevity in China. In Japan bamboo forests surround the Shinto shrine, a barrier against the evil. Bamboo symbolizes the spirit of Vovinam,

a Vietnamese martial arts in Vietnam. Bamboo is used in making the flute probably the first of the instruments made from it. Bamboo is used for traditional Chinese and Japanese smoking pipes as well as used for crafting the stems of opium pipes.
