Baisakhi in India
This carnival has taken different forms, customs and contents in Punjab, South India, Manipur and Assam.
Baisakhi day is named as the Naba Barsha (New Year) in Bengal. On the morning of this day people get a bath in the River Ganga and decorate their homes with rangoli (flower-patterned).
Baishakhi is enjoyed twice a year in Himachal Pradesh in admiration of Goddess
Jwalamukhi. This is celebrated in Vaishakha (April-May) and Kartika (November). In South India, Baisakhi is identified as the Tamil and Telegu New Year. Pooram festival in respect of Vishnu is observed in Kerala. The whole community celebrates Baishaki together.

It symbolizes a time of revival, regeneration, parity and vigor. On the whole, this festival leads to contentment and offers bright hope for the future.
