Peacock
Peacock is the national bird of Burma and India. The male is called peacock, while the female is called peahen. However, in common English usage, "peacock" can be used refer to members of either sex. Peacock are omnivorous and consume plants, flower petals, seeds, insects, and other arthropods. Their life span extends 20-30 years in captivity and approximately 18 years in the wild. The peacock has a beautiful iridescent blue-

green or green coloured plumage. A peacock, dancing in full plumage, is surely the most beautiful sights of the eacock is said to come out and dance on seeing clouds and rains. This beautiful bird is native to India, Nepal and Srilanka. In the wild, peacocks are found in forest regions and dense jungle areas. They live in small family groups. Their shallow nests made of sticks, leaves, and grass. Nests are usually located in the undergrowth of the forest. They are near extinction due to hunting and a reduction in extent and quality of habitat.

PARROT
Parrots can be found in most of the warm parts of the world, including India, southeast Asia and west Africa. A small number of parrots are also found in desserts and grasslands of Australia, rainforests of South America and Central America. It has green coloured feather with a red beak. A parrot's beak is the equivalent of a human's hands. Birds use

their beaks for a variety of activities that enable them to survive. They use their beaks to eat, to preen, and to feel and hold objects. They also , use them for aggressive and defensive behaviors. Considering their size, parrots have large hearts, and yettheir organs are streamlined, their blood volume is small, and their bones are thin and light. It belongs to the class Aves.They need fresh fruits & vegetables, fresh water and seeds, nuts, grains or pellets to eat. Parrots live in flocks for protection from their

natural predators-raptors, snakes, monkeys, rodents, and man. Some parrots have the potential to live 50+ years. All parrots have the four toes on each foot placed two at the front and two back. Parrots are divided into several species, including Red-lored Parrots, Lilac-crowned Parrots, Yellow-chevroned Parrots etc. Parrots are kept as pets, particularly conures, macaws, Amazons, cockatoos, African Greys, lovebirds, Cockatiels, Budgerigars and parakeets, because of their rich and varied colouration. The popularity of parrots as pets has led to a thriving - and often illegal - trade in the birds, and some species are now threatened with extinction.
