The eagerly awaited "Pujo" is at doorstep;an enigma which often makes one wonder at the magic behind its charm. The fervour of the festivity whose impact is most felt on the four important days of the celebration, begins a fortnight ahead. A magic wand clears the monsoon clouds to reveal the clear blue sky with floating cotton white balls. The breezy mornings-

bright sunshine-spurt of laughter- bustle of shoppers-mild smell of shiuli flowers and the patches of kash on lush green fields-the Durga Puja 2007 countdown has begun!

Clay thou art; to Ganges returnest
  Durga Puja at the threshold, when the silently flowing Ganga lends its silt to be moulded into the beautiful Goddess. Early dawn divers into Ganges collect baskets of clay to be processed and transformed into the Goddess; breathing life into the silt by the magical fingers of the artist.

The wooden framework, the shape bestowed with straw, applied layer of silt and the magic of those fingers and ardent devotion create the beautiful Goddess to be worshipped for four days.
