The eagerly awaited "Pujo" is at doorstep;an enigma which often makes one wonder at the magic behind its charm. The fervour of the festivity whose impact is most felt on the four important days of the celebration, begins a fortnight ahead. A magic wand clears the monsoon clouds to reveal the clear blue sky with floating cotton white balls. The breezy mornings-

bright sunshine-spurt of laughter-bustle of shoppers-mild smell of shiuli flowers and the patches of kash on lush green fields-the Durga Puja 2007 countdown has begun!

The beautifully casted heads are attached to the torsos, the finely done palms in clay make the hands look complete. The Goddess in clay is adorned with a layer of base colour followed by the skin colour.

Finer touches
Its the artist's fingers and the clay that steal the show. The right twist, the propotionate structure, the appropriate angle, the intricate detailing mould the idols into beautiful pieces of art. A fine layer of silt is applied for the finished look.
