Thus it is evident that Janmashtami is celebrated in every Hindu family of India with great passion and honour. Not only in temples but even at their respective home devotees observes the birth day of Lord Krishna. Especially the Bengalis commemorate this day by preparing various sweet dishes like ‘Malpua’, ‘Taler Bora’, ‘Taler Khir’, etc.
Taalerbora (Chop like juicy sweet-meat) 

Ingredients:
Palmyra fruit (Taal) – 1 kg, Banana – 10, Scraped Pulp of Coconut – Half, Flour (Moida)/ Coarse Flour (Aanta) – 250 gm, Salt – according to taste, Sugar – according to taste,
Oil – 150 gm

Steps:
Scrape the pulp from the palmyra fruit (Taal) and mix it with the paste from of banana, coconut pulp, salt and sugar. Make small balls with the paste. Blend the balls with hot oil in the frying pan. Talerbora will be ready.
If the balls tend to break apart in the frying pan, then make it tight by mixing more paste.

Yogurt Flitters/ Malpoa 

Ingredients:
Sugar - ½ cup, Water - ½ cup, Flour - ¾ cup, Baking powder - 1 tsp, Plain yogurt - 1 cup, Snafu - a pinch of, Khowa kheer - a little amount

Steps:
Boil together sugar and water to make the syrup. Batter well the flour, baking powder and yogurt and keep for 6-7 hours. Add Aniseed and give flat round shape to the malpoas. Deep-fry the malpoas. Soak the fried malpoas in syrup for at least 10 minutes. Serve spreading khowa.



Taaler Khir (Sweet meat from the juice of Palmyra fruit)

Ingredients:
Palmyra fruit (Taal) – 1 kg, Scraped Pulp of Coconut – Half, Milk, Salt – according to taste, Sugar – according to taste.

Steps:
Scrape the pulp from the palmyra fruit (Taal) and mix it with the paste from coconut pulp, milk, salt and sugar. Heat the paste in the frying pan without oil, slowly. The colour will change. Taler Khir will be ready to be served.
