Balurghat
City situated east of the Atrai River. Connected by road with English Bazar (India) and Dinajpur and Rajshahi (Bangladesh), it is the head distributing centre for the region, trading chiefly in rice, jute, sugarcane, and oilseeds. It was confirmed a metropolis in 1951.

Uttar Dinajpur-A recently shaped region having brilliant prospect of increase in farming manufacture with the expansion of irrigation ability from the much expected Teesta Project.
Raiganj
It is located on the Kulik River. An important agricultural-trade and jute-exporting centre, it is linked by road with English Bazar and with Dinajpur (in Bangladesh). Rice milling is a major industry here. Raiganj was avowed a municipality in 1951 and has a college allied with the University of North Bengal.

Raiganj Bird Sanctuary
located in the district and beside the National Highway and by the side of the Kulik River is the Raiganj Bird Sanctuary with an area of 35 acre and bumper area of 286.23 acre. The woods, water bodies and the stream be a magnet for the migratory birds like Open Bill Strok, Night heron, cormorant, little cormorant & Egrets from South Asian countries and coastal regions.
