Bandel is 43 km from Calcutta and pulls towards tourists throughout the year. The simply relies of the Portuguese arrangement are the Church (Basilica) and the monastery. Bansberia is about 15 kms north of the Hooghly. The temple compound here has two temples. It was one of the major villages of antique Saptagram. The temples of Ananta Vasudeva and Hanseswari are famous here. The Vasudeva temple is build in the conventional ekaratna fashion with curled cornices and an octagonal tower.

Chandernagore

Chandannagore
37 km away from Calcutta, Chandannagore was formerly a French settlement. It is a wonderfully laid out settlement on the bank of the river Hooghly with an attractive walkway that is perfect for strolls. The churches, the convent and the dwelling of the French Administrator all along the strand are attractive buildings
