AN MOUNTAINEERING INSTITUTE & PADMAJA NAIDU HIMALAYAN ZOOLOGICAL PARK:

Situated on Jawahar Parbat about 2 km. From Chowrasta, this unique institution trains mountaineers. It has a museum containing an interesting collection of mountaineering equipment. Adjacent to the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, it is a high altitude wild life park and new home for Siberian Tiger, Himalayan Black Bear, Deer, Red Panda, Snow Leopard and Birds.

 
 

Tenzing Rock and Gombu Rock
Situated at Lebong Cart Road. Himalayan Mountaineering Institute conducts preliminary course on Rock climbing on these Rocks.

Natural History Museum
Natural History Museum contains a representative and all-inclusive compilation of the fauna of the province. The specimens are demonstrating in accurate to life attitudes of all birds’ species, reptiles and animals found in the diverse altitudes in the Eastern Himalayas. The butterfly and beetle segment worth special mention.

Sister Nivedita Memorial

It is situated just below the Railway Station on the way to the Victoria Falls where the mortal remains of Sister Nivedita were cremated stands the dignified memorial erected by Swami Abhenyanand of the Sri Ramakrishna Vedanta Math.

 
 

Lloyds Botanical Garden
It contains a representative assortment of Himalayan plants, flora, orchids etc. Early English guests were struck by the walks on Birch Hill and its European spirit, when they came crossways alpine trees and blossoming bushes of the middle height type: oak, chestnut, maple; cherry and birch, In 1878, Mr. W. Lloyd gifted of 16 hectares (40 acres) of gently sloping hillside to Sir Ashley Eden to make one of the best gardens in Asia.
Arranged in layer are more than 200 pots of every possible shade; when the flourish fades, the plants are reinstated by a fresh lot. With the higher segment containing home-grown plants, and the lower the foreign ones, the estate present a "kaleidoscope of color which continues till the autumn sun floods the hills, turning them into russet and gold, and fallen leaves carpet the road."

 
 

Chunnu Summer Falls (Rock Garden) & Gangamya Park

About 3 mins walk from Chowrasta will bring the visitors to the place where the famous Indian patriot Deshbandu Chittaranjan Das had passed away in 1925.

Happy Valley Tea Estate
Of about seventy tea gardens in this hilly region, this is one of the nearest, about 3 km from the town. Here one can see the processing of the world famous Darjeeling tea.
